We recommend that you to check our live vacancies on a regular basis and apply for roles that are a suitable match when they come up; do sign up for alerts so that you are amongst the first to hear of newly advertised roles. Please note that we do not accept speculative CVs as we are unable to respond to you on that.

We advise you prepare the content of your application offline then copy and paste your answers into the online form to avoid losing information should you encounter difficulties with the internet connection. For ease you can upload much of the content from an existing CV or any LinkedIn profile.

Please note that we assess applications solely on the merit of the information provided through our online application portal and are therefore do not accept further submissions through email or post.

Do answer every question thoroughly in the application form as we need this information to consider your suitability.

As part of the pre-employment checks required before you start your new role we ask you to provide the contact details of your two most recent professional referees. One referee must be your current / most recent employer and the other should be your previous employer. We will not approach your referees without your permission.

Please note, our recruitment process takes, on average 60 – 90 days. We will continue to contact you during this time to keep you informed.

If you encounter difficulties signing into your Amnesty Careers online account, please ensure you are accessing your account through the correct website (careers.amnesty.org rather than amnesty.org) as you may be trying to log in as an Amnesty supporter on the site rather than into the careers section.

In the careers section you will have the option to reset your password. If you continue to be unable to log in, please do contact us to request an assisted ‘PASSWORD RESET’

You will receive an automatic response to acknowledge your application as soon as you submit it. If you are shortlisted to move forward in the recruitment process we will contact you directly.

We aim to contact all candidates within 2-4 weeks after the closing date.

We use the online system to update you on the outcome of your application as soon as a decision is made, and if invited we also provide online booking options for interviews. Please do log into your online profile to see this.

There may be times when individual teams may experience slight delays, at times due to crisis workload or overseas missions. Should recruitment be delayed for an extended period, we aim to keep in contact with you and provide regular updates.

Successful candidates will be able to reserve an interview slot through our online scheduling service.

We will confirm if this is to be a remote interview conducted by video and will work with you to ensure we have the correct connection in place. For face to face interviews, which are usually held in the location of the vacancy, we will work with you to arrange reasonable travel and accommodation expenses.

You may be asked to take practical online tests to assess your technical ability to perform in the role. Some tests may require advance preparation but please be advised that this is usually not the case.

We endeavour to provide you with feedback on your interview performance and tests and will let you know when we have a decision about your application.

If you are invited to an interview which is not local to you we will ask you to either connect with us for the interview via Microsoft Teams. We may ask you to go to the nearest Amnesty International office to your home to participate in the interview remotely. If you are invited to an interview that requires you to travel over 100 miles, please confirm the details with us as we use a specific travel partner who will book trains / flights / hotels. By working with our travel partner we will obtain the most competitive price.  Please note, we will not be able to reimburse you should you book your travel without checking in with us first. You must also supply original receipts to in order to be reimbursed for your travel expenses.

Following an offer of employment, we will conduct pre-employment checks only when you give us your permission to proceed. This relates to your right to work, any relevant background checks and contacting your two most recent professional referees.

If you are claiming Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) in the UK we understand that you are fully entitled to volunteer for as many hours as you like but please be sure to speak with in advance and notify your Job Centre of your volunteering arrangement.

We highly value the contribution our Volunteers provide for Amnesty International, but we emphasize that this is not a guaranteed entry in to paid staff work with our organization.

Some of our current employees have previously volunteered for Amnesty International or similar organizations and it is an experience that will be of great value to you should you wish to start a career in this field.
